Choosing the Right Holistic Health Practitioner for You

The eight practitioners at Health Hub Tweed Coast, with their names and disciplines.

Eight practitioners, seven different disciplines, one address — if you’re new to Health Hub Tweed Coast, it’s reasonable to wonder where to actually start. Here’s a simple way to think it through, based on what you’re looking for rather than which service sounds most familiar.

Start with what you’re actually looking for

Most people fall into one of a few broad categories: a specific, ongoing health concern; a desire for more movement or physical strength; a need for calm and stress relief; or support for a family member. None of these are mutually exclusive, and many people end up combining services over time.

If you have a specific, ongoing health concern

Dr Malcolm McKay (Doctor of Acupuncture) is the practitioner to start with if you’re managing an ongoing physical concern — joint or muscular pain, digestive issues, or general female or male health concerns — and want the support of an AHPRA-registered practitioner working within Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Amanda Ross (Naturopath) is a strong starting point for family health, children’s health, and support through life stages such as perimenopause, working alongside your GP rather than replacing that care.

If you want more movement and physical strength

Monique Carole (Pilates & Body Balance) and Katie Verkerk (Function & Flow, functional fitness) both focus on structured, purposeful movement — Monique with an emphasis on control and body awareness, Katie with an emphasis on full-body, everyday functional strength.

If you want calm, stillness or stress relief

Alicia Grace (Yoga & Meditation, taught with a trauma-informed lens) and Kate Doedee (Hatha & Yin Yoga) both teach yoga styles suited to slowing down and supporting general wellbeing, while Pearl Blinco-Doffiny (Crystal Sound Bowls) offers a completely passive, relaxation-focused sound healing experience if movement isn’t what you’re after.

If you’re looking for something a little different

Rebecca Lindsay (Embodied Movement & Dance) suits people wanting a more intuitive, feeling-led approach to movement, rather than a fitness or performance-based class.

You don’t have to choose just one

Because every practitioner runs their own service, there’s no reason to limit yourself to a single discipline. Many Health Hub clients combine services over time — for example, acupuncture alongside a movement class or yoga — building a plan that suits their own goals rather than fitting into a single category.

FAQs

What if I’m not sure which practitioner is right for me? Call the Hub directly on 0415 919 521, and we can point you toward the practitioner best suited to what you’re looking for.

Do I need to book with every practitioner to get the full benefit of a holistic approach? No. Start with whichever service matches your immediate need, and add others later if it’s useful.

Can I combine services, like acupuncture and yoga? Yes — many clients do, and it’s one of the main advantages of a multi-disciplinary centre.
